WestJet Encore in hiring mode
A sign that the pandemic is drawing to an end WestJet Encore is looking for first officers on Q400. The airline has therefore exhausted its recall list much faster than expected. The Alberta-based company no doubt expects to have difficulty recruiting. At least, that’s what the hiring criteria suggest. Indeed, the minimum number of flight hours to apply is now 250 with IATRA.
In fact, WestJet Encore’s criteria are now virtually the same as third-tier carriers. For employment, it will therefore compete with flight schools, air taxi companies and regional carriers. Guess who’s going to win it. I am very happy with the young pilots who will be hired by WestJet Encore. But smaller airlines are going to have enormous difficulty maintaining often essential services.
