The order of A220 is linked to the result of the vote of Air France pilots members of SNPL-AF. This vote is intended to approve the agreement on the renewal of the fleet of Air France and its subsidiaries. The agreement has several components allowing Air France to better manage the renewal of its fleet. Among other things, Air France will be able to allocate more single-aisle aircraft to its Transavia discount carrier.
It has been a year now that Air France has been working to renew a large part of its short and medium-haul fleet. If the agreement with the union is accepted by the members, Air France should make an announcement the 31 first of July or early August.
The order is expected to include more than 100 single-aisle aircraft, including 30 to 40 A220s to replace the older A319CEOs.
