Q400, union members are saying yes to change of ownership
Bombardier employees working at the Downsview plant are unionized with UNIFOR Locals 112 and 673. Since only the Q400 assembly line changes ownership, union members had to make a decision to maintain the current collective agreement with the future owner of Q400 Longview Aviation Capital.
73.3 of the member’s present voted in favor of maintaining the convention after the ownership change.
Following the vote, Mr. David Curtis, who is President and Chief Executive Officer of Viking Air and a member of Longview Aviation Capital’s Board of Directors, stated the following: “Longview Aviation Capital is pleased that union members have voted to support the ownership change, and the continuation of the existing collective agreement. We look forward to completing the transition and closing the transaction.”
The union vote thus lifts another hurdle to the deal between Bombardier and Longview Aviation Capital.
