In 2019 Air Canada will acquire four TAP A330-300s

It has been almost six months since Air Canada announced its intention to replace the last B767-300ER with used A330s. According to the One Mile at a Time website, the carrier eventually found four A330-300s that are currently in operation with the Portuguese company TAP.

The four A330-300s were first delivered to Singapore Airlines in 2009 and are serial numbers 997, 1006, 1012, and 1015. The aircraft are expected to be phased into service in the Air Canada fleet as of second quarter of 2019. They will have the Air Canada new livery, but the cabin will still be configured by Singapore Airlines when they enter service. Interiors will be reconfigured in late 2019 and early 2020.

The A330 is an aircraft that generally ages well, even after more than 25 years in service. Since the four aircraft that Air Canada will receive are 10 years old, they offer a significant savings on the cost of acquisition while offering good operating performances. These four A330-300s should therefore be in service with Air Canada for a long time.

“These four A330-300s should therefore be in service with Air Canada for a long time.” That’s certainly very likely, considering AC has had its last few 767s for 30 years now!
