JetBlue orders 60 A220-300
After the markets closed yesterday, JetBlue announced that it was placing an order 60 A220-300 with options for 60 more, the first deliveries are scheduled for 2020.
This is a big win for Airbus since JetBlue was the launch customer of the E-190 and that Embraer was counting on this customer to boost sales of L’E2. After Air Canada and American, Jetblue is the third customer of the E-190 that decides to divest it while the average age of the fleet is barely 10 years old. Of these three E-190 customers, Embraer failed to convert a single one to E2.
It is therefore a first victory for Airbus with the A220-300 and it is very significant because for now it gives superiority to the A220 against E2 among the major US carriers.
